Tread carefully with tyre safety

A good set of well maintained tyres are pivotal to road safety but despite this a majority don’t take proper care of their tyres – studies have found that 53% of drivers have at least one tyre below the legal minimum of 1.66m – putting both the driver, other drivers and members of the public at risk.

Tyres are the only part of a car which is in constant contact with the road. Steering, braking, acceleration and turning corners are all affected by the condition of your tyres. Shockingly, a study by Micheldever Tyres also shows that 95.8% of vehicles have a tyre below 2mm.

It’s important to regularly check tyre depth and tyre pressure. The difference between a tyre with good depth and one without could be the difference between being in an accident and avoiding one. Tyres with medium pressure and a grip of above 1.6mm will make your vehicle much safer.

Tyres with low tread are not only unsafe but also illegal and can result in 3 penalty points and a fine of up to £2,500 per tyre.

UK Carline offer fantastic maintenance packages that suit your tyre needs. Most of our maintenance packages offer a “no quibble” tyre policy. For these great rates ask one of our team for assistance.
