Wait, what?<\/h1>\n<p>We all know cyclists and drivers don\u2019t always play nice together. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.media.volvocars.com\/us\/en-us\/media\/pressreleases\/155565\/volvo-cars-and-poc-to-demonstrate-life-saving-wearable-cycling-tech-concept-at-international-ces-201\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Volvo have collaborated with POC (manufacturers of expensive sporting kit, such as snowboarding helmets with Bluetooth) and Ericsson<\/strong><\/a> to develop a new helmet for cyclists that will allow bikes and cars to communicate if they are in close proximity to each other, warning both driver and cyclist.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe partnership between Volvo Cars, POC and Ericsson is an important milestone in investigating the next steps towards Volvo Cars\u2019 vision to build cars that will not crash,\u201d commented Klas Bendrik, VP and Group CIO at Volvo Cars. \u201cBut now, by exploring cloud-based safety systems, we are getting ever closer to eliminating the remaining blind-spots between cars and cyclists alike.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of course, this is only a Volvo feature for now, but the helmet will go a long way towards preventing collisions between cyclist and driver in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Volvo have made a cycling helmet.
