With Winter on its way, interest always tends to focus on 4x4s as we wait for the snowy conditions. With that in mind, we took the all new Jeep Grand Cherokee for a little spin.<\/p>\n
Undoubtedly the latest Grand Cherokee is much improved over its predecessor. It has a much more premium feel, stacks of equipment and sleeker styling. With superior ride comfort and a torquey and refined 3.0 litre V6 engine, the driving experience is pretty impressive too.<\/p>\n
Our car was the Overland model, which has air suspension fitted as standard compared to the entry Limited Plus model. The Overland is fitted with 20″ alloy wheels, and the air suspension attributed to a very comfortable ride, especially at cruising speeds. There was some body roll in bends, but this can be expected of a heavy, go-anywhere SUV with a high ride height.<\/p>\n
Did I say stacks of equipment? Electric leather seats, panoramic roof, reversing camera, sat-nav, power tailgate, the list goes on and on. On the air suspension models, the ride height also lowers when parking so it’s easier to exit and access the cabin. The seats are comfortable and, as expected for a vehicle of this size, there is plenty of space for passengers in the front and read. Front visibility is good with a commanding driving position, and when reversing the camera is a great help.<\/p>\n

I didn’t take the car off road (I didn’t want to risk kerbing the chrome alloys!), but Jeep have always had a reputation for tough, go anywhere 4×4 vehicles so I wouldn’t doubt its capabilities. I’m sure that the Grand Cherokee will easily handle anything that is thrown at it.<\/p>\n
All Jeep Grand Cherokees are supplied with a 36 month\/60,000 mile warranty and have a service interval of 12,500 miles. The 60,000 mile warranty could be a little disappointing for high mileage drivers when many competitors, such as Mercedes and BMW, offer unlimited mileage warranties for the same period.<\/p>\n
The Jeep Grand Cherokee pricing starts at \u00a345,050 for the Limited Plus and goes up to \u00a352,550 for the top-of-the-range Summit. The Overland version sits in between. On a lease, the Limited Plus is available from around \u00a3400 + VAT per month, making it more affordable.<\/p>\n
