Hyundai has maintained its market share during the first quarter of 2013, according to new figures released by the European Automobile Manufacturer\u2019s Assocation (ACEA).<\/p>\n

Data shows the Korean car maker sold 4.4 million vehicles last year, with Europe accounting for about 10 per cent of worldwide sales. Overall, Hyundai secured continental market shares of 3.5 per cent.<\/p>\n

Senior vice president and COO of Hyundai Motor Europe, Allan Rushforth, said: \u201cNo company is immune to the challenges currently facing the industry, so we\u2019re pleased to have maintained our momentum during the opening quarter. We anticipate our market share will fluctuate each month, and our objective is to maintain the 3.5 per cent market share we achieved in 2012\u201d.<\/p>\n

Although total industry volume fell by 9.7 per cent during the first quarter of 2013 and registrations dropped marginally by 4.7 per cent as well, Hyundai\u2019s reputation for producing high quality vehicles has improved over time. The manufacturer is renowned for designing fuel-efficient, performance cars of optimum value. Ultimately, improvements to brand identity will help save Hyundai\u2019s future sales. Mr Rushforth said: \u201cOngoing difficulties have led to lower-than-expected industry sales during the first three months. We anticipate this trend will continue through the second quarter, before an improvement in consumer confidence helps to push up sales in the second half of 2013\u201d.<\/p>\n

If one thing\u2019s for sure, it\u2019s that the Korean car maker knows how to appeal to European customers – over 95 per cent of their products in the European market are designed, engineered and tested there. Hyundai cars are sold in 28 European countries throughout 2,500 outlets.
