{"id":3600,"date":"2018-12-20T10:23:38","date_gmt":"2018-12-20T10:23:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ukcarline.co.uk\/news\/?p=3600"},"modified":"2018-12-20T11:43:11","modified_gmt":"2018-12-20T11:43:11","slug":"london-ultra-low-emission-zone-what-where-when","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ukcarline.co.uk\/news\/london-ultra-low-emission-zone-what-where-when\/","title":{"rendered":"London Ultra Low Emission Zone: What, Where, &#038; When"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/ULEZ-Map.png\" alt=\"london ultra low emission zone map\"><\/p>\n<h2>London Ultra Low Emission Zone: What, Where, &#038; When<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) comes into force on 8th April 2019<\/li>\n<li>It will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week within the same area as the current Congestion Charge Zone until 24th October 2021.<\/li>\n<li>From 25th October 2021 it will be extended to the North and South Circular roads<\/li>\n<li>The ULEZ standards are in addition to the Congestion Charge and the Low Emission Zone requirements<\/li>\n<li>The \u00a312.50 per day charge is <i>in addition<\/i> to the current Congestion Charge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Cars<\/h2>\n<p>Cars will need to meet the minimum emission standards in the ULEZ, or the daily charge must be paid. Petrol cars will have to have minimum <strong>Euro 4<\/strong> engines (generally those registered after 2005), whereas diesel will have to have at least <strong>Euro 6<\/strong> (generally registered after 2015).<\/p>\n<h2>LCVs<\/h2>\n<p>LCVs (any vans, 4&#215;4 light utility\/pickups etc. up to 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight; or minibus with more than 8 passengers and under 5 tonnes) will need to meet the minimum standard, or the daily charge must be paid. Petrol LCVs need a minimum of <strong>Euro 4<\/strong> engines (generally those registered from 2006), whereas <strong>diesel will need at least Euro 6 &#8211; generally registered from September 2016<\/strong>. This means that if you are driving a 3 year old diesel van, you could be subject to the charge.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, as the charge operates 24 hours a day &#8211; if you make deliveries at night (for example 8pm to 8am), you could be charged for two days.<\/p>\n<h2>Can I Check if My Car\/Van Meets the Standards?<\/h2>\n<p>Yes. <a href=\"https:\/\/tfl.gov.uk\/modes\/driving\/ultra-low-emission-zone\/vrm-checker-ulez\" target=\"_blank\">Click here (opens in a new tab)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Are There any Discounts\/Exemptions?<\/h2>\n<p>Residents who are registered for the residents&#8217; Congestion Charge get a 100% discount during the &#8220;sunset&#8221; period until October 24th 2021 so they can source a new vehicle. Keepers of vehicles registered with &#8220;disabled&#8221; or &#8220;disabled passenger vehicles&#8221; tax class will be exempt until 26th October 2025 (as long as their vehicle doesn&#8217;t change class).<\/p>\n<p>Blue badge holders with vehicles which aren&#8217;t registered as above will not receive a discount.<\/p>\n<p>Not-for-profit minibuses operated under a Section 19 or Section 22 permit will be eligible for exemption until 29th October 2023.<\/p>\n<p>For further information about exemptions and discounts, <a href=\"https:\/\/tfl.gov.uk\/modes\/driving\/ultra-low-emission-zone\/discounts-and-exemptions?intcmp=54447\" target=\"_blank\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>So What do I do?<\/h2>\n<p>You either pay \u00a312.50 <i>per day<\/i>, which is on top of the Congestion Charge of \u00a311.50 per day (which is \u00a3120 per week if you&#8217;re making a trip every day). You can upgrade to a new vehicle which meets the emissions guidelines &#8211; we can help you with that, or you can walk.<\/p>\n<h2>Will The ULEZ go to Other Cities?<\/h2>\n<p>Birmingham has a plan in place <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-england-birmingham-44551122\" target=\"_blank\">from 2020<\/a>, so it&#8217;s safe to assume it&#8217;s going to end up in other large cities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/tfl.gov.uk\/modes\/driving\/ultra-low-emission-zone\" target=\"_blank\">Transport For London<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>London Ultra Low Emission Zone: What, Where, &#038;
