It has been revealed that the next model of the premium Nissan Infiniti brand will be produced exclusively at the manufacturer’s plant in Sunderland.<\/p>\n

According to the Japanese car manufacturer, the move will see \u00a3250 million being invested into the factory and 280 jobs created at Nissan.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, another 720 jobs will be established in the supply chain process so that the delivery of the new Nissan Infiniti from production line to car showroom is a smooth one.<\/p>\n

Business secretary Vince Cable also praised the strategy, pointing out that the move “is a strong endorsement of the quality of Britain’s car industry, which is creating jobs, taking on apprentices and contributing to building a stronger economy”.<\/p>\n

The Nissan plant in Sunderland has had a rich history since the Japanese vehicle maker and HM Government penned an agreement to build a factory in the UK back in 1984.<\/p>\n

Since that deal was established, the facility in the north-east England city has been responsible for producing such beloved vehicles as the Nissan Bluebird, the Nissan Primera and the Nissan Micra.<\/p>\n

At the moment, engineers at the plant are being tasked with building the Note, Juke and Qashqai vehicles, on top of battery packs for the award-winning Nissan Leaf electric car.<\/p>\n

The as-yet unnamed new version of the Nissan Infiniti will begin production only in Sunderland from 2015.<\/p>\n
