Volkswagen has confirmed that it is to create a production version of its Polo R WRC, though the car will only be available as a limited run.<\/p>\n

The German vehicle manufacturer confirmed that the motor will launch to coincide with its upcoming World Rally Championship campaign and represent a top-of-the-range Polo.<\/p>\n

In fact, the car will sit above the aggressive Volkswagen Polo GTI and is set to prove the most powerful Polo ever created.<\/p>\n

This last claim is backed up by the fact that a turbocharged 2.0 TSI four-cylinder petrol engine is hiding underneath the vehicle’s bonnet. This motor is capable of producing 217bhp at 4500 to 6300rpm and 258lb ft of torque between 2500-4400rpm.<\/p>\n

From a driver’s standpoint, all of this power translates to a vehicle that is capable of going from 0-62mph in a menacing 6.4 seconds and then carry on to reach a blistering top speed of 151mph.<\/p>\n

It is not just the power credentials of the production model of the Volkswagen Polo R WRC that will catch the eye though.<\/p>\n

The exterior design of the limited-edition car is sure to leave motorists breathless, thanks in part to the inclusion of 18-inch ‘Cagliari’ rally-inspired alloys.<\/p>\n

What’s more, the German manufacturer has also gifted the vehicle with a unique front bumper and grille, while a white paintjob with blue and grey rally stripes along its doors and bonnet presents the car with a sporty stance over other Polo models.<\/p>\n

The Volkswagen Polo R WRC is set to launch across the UK in September 2013.<\/p>\n
