Renault\u2019s new 5 electric supermini is one of the most eagerly anticipated cars of the moment. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n
With its retro design, electric powertrain and low price tag, could this be the EV we\u2019ve all been waiting for?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you\u2019re thinking about buying one of these fun and funky little cars, we\u2019ve compiled a list of the top things you need to know about the new Renault 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is a choice of two battery packs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Renault is offering the R5 with a choice of two battery packs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is a smaller 40kWh unit and electric motor that can deliver a claimed range of up to 186 miles on a single charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Or, there is a larger 52kWh unit with an electric motor that achieves a claimed 252 miles between trips to the plug.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All versions are compatible with DC rapid charging and can be topped up at speeds of 100kW, allowing for a 15 to 80 per cent charge to take 30 mins for the 52kWh or 31 mins for the smaller 40kWh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are three trim levels<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Car manufacturers are taking the simplistic route when it comes to trim levels, and the R5 is no different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are just three trim levels consisting of Evolution, Techno and Iconic Five.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The entry-level car comes with a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and grey with black cloth upholstery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Move up to the Techno and you get extras such as recycled denim seat upholstery, an illuminated \u20185\u2019 charging indicator on the bonnet and interior ambient lighting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The flagship Iconic Five comes with extras such as heated front seats and steering wheel, 18-inch \u2018Chrono\u2019 black diamond-cut alloy wheels and grey with yellow sustainable seat upholstery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It features lots of sustainable materials<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
To help reduce emissions through the manufacturing process, the R5 features lots of sustainable materials throughout its cabin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For example, the instrument panel is made from something called NAFIlean-R, which is recycled polypropylene made from post-consumer waste. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The seat upholstery, synthetic leather on the steering wheel and the car\u2019s sound insulation are also made from sustainable materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s one of the cheapest EVs on sale today<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\nRenault 5<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
The dawn of the affordable electric car is rising and Renault has made sure that prices remain low for the R5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prices start at just \u00a322,995 for the entry-level Evolution model and rise to \u00a326,995 for the flagship Iconic Five. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
