The number of Chinese car firms that are coming to the UK is growing by the day. It seems that every week that goes by, we hear of another new brand bringing over their battery technology and ultra-low price tags.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

So, what are we talking about this week? Well, Omoda joined the UK\u2019s new car fleet last year with a sole focus on the SUV market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omoda is owned by the Chinese car giant, Chery, and is in conjunction with Jaecoo \u2013 another Chinese car firm owned by Chery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Omoda new cars focus purely on the sportier end of the market with coupe-styled models, whereas Jaecoo is the more premium and comfortable option for buyers.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With all that\u2019s said and done, what can we expect from Omoda in the future, and what models does it have lined up next?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Omoda new cars are currently on sale?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When the firm started out in the UK, it introduced two new SUVs that would be competing against the likes of the Kia Sportage<\/a>, MG HS<\/a> and Citroen C5 Aircross<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5 SUV<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The first is the 5 SUV, which comes equipped with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 183bhp and 275Nm of torque. In terms of acceleration, it can do 0-60mph in 7.7 seconds and will reach a top speed of 128mph. Also, Omoda claims that the car can achieve up to 37.7mpg on the combined cycle and produces 170g\/km.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

E5 SUV<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The firm\u2019s other offering is an electric<\/a> variant of the car, called the E5. Under the bonnet, there is a 61kWh battery pack with an electric motor that produces 204bhp and 340Nm of torque. It can accelerate to 60mph in seven seconds and will run out of steam at 107mph. Omoda claims that the car can travel up to 257 miles on a single charge and is compatible with 80kW DC rapid charging, allowing for a 30 to 80 per cent top-up to take 28 minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Omoda new cars can we expect in the future?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Omoda is set to launch up to five new models for the UK between now and next year and the first will be the new 9 SUV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9 SUV<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Omoda 9 brings more space and practicality <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The 9 is a couple-styled SUV that features a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Under the bonnet, there is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to an electric motor and 34.46kWh battery pack. It produces 449bhp and 700Nm of torque and can do 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omoda claims that the car can travel up to 93 miles on electric power alone and it only produces 40g\/km of CO2 emissions. Also, it features a four-wheel-drive system and plenty of standard equipment such as a 14-speaker premium Sony audio system and a sunroof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 9 is on sale now, priced from \u00a344,990, with first deliveries expected to commence next month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7 SUV<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Next up, there is the 7 SUV, which will rival cars such as the Hyundai Tucson and Toyota RAV4, when it arrives in UK showrooms later this year. Just like the 9, the 7 will come with a plug-in hybrid setup. It also features a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to an electric motor, which produces 201bhp and Omoda claims the car can travel over 50 miles on electric power \u2013 although its battery pack size has not been revealed at this stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But, the firm does claim that the car can travel over 745 miles on a single tank full of fuel and it comes with features such as flush door handles to improve its efficiency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prices for the 7 are yet to be announced, but it\u2019s likely that it will start from around the \u00a330,000 and \u00a335,000 mark, plus the car will go on sale in August of this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
