BMW’s 3 Series has won the prestigious title of ‘Executive Car of the Year’ at the Scottish Car of the Year Awards 2012, beating off stiff competition from the rest of the motor industry.
\nIt was the latest in a series of gongs the maker has received this year, which have included becoming Fleet Manufacturer of the Year at Green Fleet Awards, The Sunday Times best family car and the best manufacturer in the NADA Dealer Attitude Survey.
\nThe Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW) listed features such as the sleek appearance, fine driving experience and affordable running costs as the key elements that tipped the balance in favour of the 3 Series.
\nThe BMW 320d also impressed the Scottish panel, winning the prize of Diesel Car of the Year, with its driving dynamic and frugality proving to be a winning combination.<\/p>\n

ASMW president John Murdoch said the 3 Series manages to “raise the game” above the rest.
\nHe added: “It proves that you can be a dashing executive yet still please the bean counters, meaning that there was really only ever going to be one winner.”
\nSunday Times motoring content manager James Mills was also fulsome in his praise, stating: “What’s most worrying for its opposition is that the 3 Series isn’t just outstanding in one or two areas. It is the excellence it exhibits across the board that makes it such an extraordinary competitor.”
\nThese awards may make the BMW 3 Series a particularly enticing prospect for drivers to own and those seeking a personal car leasing<\/a> deal will find it is much more cost effective to acquire the model on such a basis than pay the upfront basic list price.
