Another major fleet in the UK has opted for the ever popular Ford Transit.<\/p>\n

Greenshields JCB, which specialises in the distribution, service and repair of construction vehicles, will use a collection of the vans up and down the length of the UK.<\/p>\n

The company is already using seven short wheelbase Transits and four of the smaller Connect variants and will take delivery of a further 17 vans, which will be a mixture of medium-wheelbase, long wheelbase and high roof Transits, by the end of October.<\/p>\n

Tom Greenshields, aftermarket director for Greenshields JCB, said that the company has had a long tradition with Ford commercial vehicles and even though other alternatives were carefully scrutinised, the Transit proved to be the range that was best able to offer its drivers the functionality and reliability they need to do their own jobs effectively.<\/p>\n

He added: “There is also good parts availability and service support should the need arise. We believe Ford commercial vehicles are the industry standard, setting the benchmark which others attempt to follow.”<\/p>\n

Figures published by the manufacturer in August this year revealed that it had been the UK’s leader in the commercial sales sector for the past 46 years and so far in 2012 had managed to boost its market share in the fleet industry to 15.9 per cent.<\/p>\n

“The combination of Ford’s best-ever vehicle range, latest fuel-efficient diesel and EcoBoost petrol engines, improving residual values and the power of the UK’s largest dealer network has seen Ford’s fleet business go from strength-to-strength,” said the company’s fleet director Kevin Griffin.<\/p>\n

Firms and fleet managers who do not have the capital available to purchase a whole new range of vans could look at the possibilities that contract hire<\/a> brings if they want to see some of the benefits of using the most up-to-date vehicles for themselves.<\/p>\n
