Volkswagen\u2019s ID.7 is one of the brand\u2019s latest electric vehicles and one which arrives with an impressively long range and boatloads of technology. But unlike many of its rivals, the ID.7 is available in both fastback and Tourer bodystyles, offering drivers a little more variety than usual.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

But what are the differences between them and what else do you need to know? We\u2019ve got all of the details in this article.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The design of the fastback and Tourer is quite different <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Naturally, one of the key areas that differ between the ID.7<\/a> and its Tourer<\/a> counterpart is design. That standard ID.7 has something of a \u2018fastback\u2019 design with a long, sweeping roofline which ends in a rather sharp boot. It\u2019s a distinctive one, that\u2019s for sure, while the front end gets an eye-catching full-width light bar which gives the car a futuristic look at night.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Switch to the Tourer and you\u2019re getting more of a classic estate bodystyle. The roofline is slightly more tapered than the one in the standard ID.7, while the boot is a little softer and higher up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boot space<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re looking for the best possible boot space from your next car, then realistically you\u2019re well catered for in either of the ID.7 models. In the standard fastback model, you\u2019re getting 532 litres, which is larger than the one you\u2019ll find in cars like the Tesla Model 3<\/a> or Mercedes<\/a> EQE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opt for the Tourer, however, and that boot space lifts to an impressive 605 litres and if you fold the rear seats down then this expands to 1,714 litres There\u2019s more than enough space for most adventures as a result. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Range<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The ID.7 offers one of the best ranges of any electric vehicle<\/a> on sale today and, with a full charge, you could get up to 433 miles between trips to the plug. As a result, the ID.7 is a car that\u2019ll manage long distances with ease. Opt for big-battery versions if you\u2019re after an ID.7 with the best possible range.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s only a slight penalty when opting for the Tourer version when it comes to range, too. In fact, Volkswagen claims that you should still get up to 422 miles from a full charge in the Tourer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charging speed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One area where you\u2019ll be glad that both of these cars are the same is charging speed. Both models can accept a rapid charge speed of up to 175kW, which means that you should be able to complete a 10 to 80 per cent charge in around half an hour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re connecting to a standard 7kW home charger, meanwhile, expect a full charge to take around 11 hours. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

GTX versions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

GTX versions bring heightened performance <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re looking for a more high-performance version of the ID.7, then the GTX might be the one for you. With dual motors – one mounted at the front axle and another at the rear – the GTX will deliver the best possible performance from any car in the ID.7 range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s good news if you fancy a sportier Tourer, too, as you can get this more practical model in GTX form, too. Its 5.3-second 0-60mph time is only slightly down on the 5.2-second time of the standard fastback. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colourways<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the easiest ways to make the ID.7 different to the Tourer version is by choosing from any in the wide range of colours offered with either of these cars. On most ID.7 models, you\u2019ll find a cool split-colour feature, too, where you can get a contrasting shade for the roof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s worth pointing out that if you\u2019d like a vibrant red shade, then you\u2019ll need to opt for the GTX version – it\u2019s the only car in the range which has this colour on offer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
