Volkswagen offers a huge selection of SUVs, and the latest model to join the pack is the Tayron<\/a>.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Tayron is a large SUV that promises to offer lots of interior space with a premium feel, making it the ideal family wagon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s going up against some really tough competition, and there is a great range of trim levels and standard equipment to tempt potential buyers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, if you\u2019re in the market for one of these SUVs, what else do you need to know?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve picked out the top five features on the new Volkswagen Tayron<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a choice of powertrains<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There is a range of engines available <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Tayron is available with a range of different engines, consisting of petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a choice of a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol with mild-hybrid technology that produces a total of 148bhp and can achieve a claimed 46.5mpg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you go for a sportier R-Line model, there is the choice of a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which benefits from Volkswagen\u2019s 4Motion four-wheel drive system. Also, there are two power outputs available – 201bhp and 261bhp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want a diesel, then the Tayron is available with one option, which is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 148bhp and can achieve a claimed 49.3mpg on the combined cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, there is also the option of two plug-in hybrid powertrains known as the \u2018eHybrid\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both come fitted with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to an electric motor and 19.7kWh battery. There are two power outputs of 201bhp and 268bhp, with the manufacturer claiming the car can travel up to 71 miles on electric power.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A seven-seat option is available<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you go for a petrol or diesel Tayron<\/a>, it comes with the added benefit of seven seats.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With all the chairs in place, there is a total of 345 litres or 885 litres with the third row folded down. Fold the second row of seats down and you get a colossal 1,915 litres, making it one of the best-in-class for boot space capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, if you go for a plug-in hybrid car, you lose the extra two seats and it becomes a five-seater. However, that doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s lost its practical nature as the PHEV model still retains a boot space of 705 litres or 1,900 litres with the rear seats folded down. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It replaces the old Tiguan Allspace<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Tayron replaces the Tiguan Allspace as a completely fresh and new model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its name is new, with the nameplate initially used on the Chinese market version of the car from 2018, until the German firm decided to launch the car globally in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It sits in between the larger Touareg and smaller Tiguan<\/a> in Volkswagen\u2019s SUV line-up and there is a range of trim levels consisting of Life, Match, Elegance, R-Line and R-Line Edition.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s got a lot of competition\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s no shortage of competition in the large SUV market, with the Tayron going up against its sister car, the Skoda Kodiaq.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other cars it’s rivalling are the Hyundai Santa Fe<\/a>, Peugeot 5008<\/a> and Kia Sorento<\/a>. However, if you want to go more premium, then there is the Mercedes<\/a> GLB, but it does come with a much larger price tag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s very practical\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Tayron is the perfect family car as it\u2019s very practical inside with deep door bins, a decent-sized glovebox, two cup holders, a centre armrest with extra underneath storage and a hidden compartment that\u2019s located in front of the parking brake and start button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Space in the back for rear occupants is also impressive. Due to the car\u2019s tall roofline and wide exterior dimensions, it means that space for taller adults is plentiful, with lots of head and leg room. Also, the rear doors open very wide, which makes it easier to install a child seat and the floor is almost flat, allowing for the middle-seat passenger to sit comfortably. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
