The company was founded in 1995 as a battery manufacturing company, although it wasn\u2019t until 2003 that the firm started to produce passenger vehicles.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its first car was the F3 compact saloon, which was sold in China and was designed to compete with the Toyota Corolla. This was followed by the electric Seal four-door saloon, which is BYD\u2019s take on the Tesla Model 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2024, the firm launched its first plug-in hybrid to the European market with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukcarline.co.uk\/car-leasing\/byd\/seal-u\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Seal U<\/a> DM-i, which rivals the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukcarline.co.uk\/car-leasing\/hyundai\/tucson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hyundai Tucson<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukcarline.co.uk\/car-leasing\/kia\/sportage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kia Sportage<\/a>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukcarline.co.uk\/car-leasing\/byd\/sealion-7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sealion 7<\/a> is the firm\u2019s largest model and is a more premium electric SUV to compete with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukcarline.co.uk\/car-leasing\/tesla\/model-y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tesla Model Y<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukcarline.co.uk\/car-leasing\/hyundai\/ioniq-5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hyundai Ioniq 5<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the smaller end of the market, there is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukcarline.co.uk\/car-leasing\/byd\/dolphin-surf\/dolphin-surf-5dr-65kw-active-30kwh-auto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dolphin Surf<\/a>, which is an electric city car and is battling against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukcarline.co.uk\/car-leasing\/renault\/5-e-tech\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Renault 5<\/a> and Hyundai Inster, while the latest offering is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukcarline.co.uk\/car-leasing\/byd\/atto-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Atto 2<\/a> B-segment SUV, which is available with electric power and there will be a plug-in hybrid variant launched next year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>BYD\u2019s future models<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>BYD is planning to offer more plug-in hybrid models with the Atto 2 DM-i. However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukcarline.co.uk\/car-leasing\/changan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Changa<\/a>n is China\u2019s oldest car maker after it was founded in 1862.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company began producing cars in 1984 and signed a deal with Suzuki to produce the SC112 MPV and SC110 Truck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the last 40 years, Changan has gone on to be one of China\u2019s largest automobile groups and even has joint ventures with Ford, Mazda and JMC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What cars does Changan sell?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The UK market only gets one Changan model for now with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukcarline.co.uk\/car-leasing\/changan\/deepal-s07\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Deepal S07<\/a> electric SUV. That might sound like a silly name, yet the car was to be taken seriously as it was going up against the Renault Zoe and Nissan Leaf.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GWM then decided to change the car\u2019s name and rebrand it as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukcarline.co.uk\/car-leasing\/gwm\/ora-03\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GWM ORA 03<\/a>, which sounds more conventional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What cars does GWM sell?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>GWM sells more cars than you might think, as it has three separate brands depending on the type of vehicle. It features an all-wheel drive setup and is one of the fastest EVs to charge up on the market with all models compatible with 451kW DC rapid-charging, allowing for a 10 to 80 per cent top-up to take just 12 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Xpeng\u2019s future models<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The firm is working on a new luxury limousine MPV with the X9, which will directly rival the Lexus LM. Plus, later next year, the G6\u2019s larger brother, the G9, will make its debut.
