Geely <\/a>is hoping for a big 2026 as it starts to sell vehicles in the UK fully. Having launched at the very end of 2025, the next 12 months will be crucial to the Chinese powerhouse, and a car which could make a big impact is the EX2.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compact and expected to be launched at a competitive price, the EX2 is already one of China\u2019s most popular models. We\u2019ve been out to China to get a sneak peak of this very exciting new model to see what it\u2019s like. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compact size<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The EX2 could be a hugely popular car for Geely<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The EX2 will arrive at the more compact end of the electric car spectrum. It\u2019s hard to see in the images, but it\u2019s a very small car overall, yet with a relatively tall roofline, it doesn\u2019t seem that small in person. It measures in at 4,135mm overall, making it significantly shorter than the Kia EV3<\/a> but shorter even than a BYD Dolphin<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That should help to make the EX2 a breeze to park and an ideal option for drivers who mainly travel around the town or city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Competitive range<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All cars get lots of equipment <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s all about range in the electric car segment and Geely – owning EV-focused brands such as Polestar and Volvo – knows a thing or two about this. In China, the EX2 is offered in two specifications; one with a 30kWh battery and a range of up to 193 miles, and a 40kWh battery model with a claimed range of up to 255 miles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those figures, however, are generated under the more lenient Chinese testing regime – so expect them to be more like 150 and 200 miles in real-world conditions here in the UK. Still, both provide more than enough range for average journeys. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lots of equipment <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As we\u2019ve come to expect from Chinese manufacturers, Geely is putting a lot of equipment into its latest cars to help convince buyers. There\u2019s a 14.6-inch infotainment screen which, in a car of this size, feels very large indeed. That\u2019s matched to an 8.8-inch driver\u2019s display for all of your key driving information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expect UK-bound models to get even more features. While prices are yet to be announced, it could be as low as \u00a317,000 when the EX2 comes here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Decent amount of space<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There’s a handy ‘frunk’ up front <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Surprisingly, we found that the compact EX2 offered a lot of space. There\u2019s easily enough room for two six-footers to get comfortable and because the EX2 has a completely flat floor at the back, there\u2019s plenty of space for your feet as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even more impressive is the 375-litre boot, which is similar in size to the one you\u2019d find in an Audi A3<\/a>. This is helped by a 70-litre \u2018frunk\u2019 where you can store the charging cables. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lots of rivals to match <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Geely is expected to launch the EX2 in the UK later this year, but when it does arrive, it\u2019ll be facing a huge number of rivals. To begin with, there is the new Kia EV2 and the aforementioned BYD Dolphin<\/a>, but also cars like the Kia Inster and even the ever-popular Renault 5<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
