It\u2019s currently BYD\u2019s smallest model and with its electric motor underneath, it\u2019s an efficient and value-focused way of getting about. Chunky looks and lots of interior tech help to seal the deal for this compact BYD, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, electric power doesn\u2019t always work for everyone, which is why <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukcarline.co.uk\/car-leasing\/byd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BYD<\/a> is following the trend used for the rest of its range and is adding a new hybrid setup to the Atto 2. Badged DM-i, it could add another dimension to the Atto 2 experience. What can you expect from this compact hybrid, though? In the DM-i, you\u2019ve got a 1.5-litre petrol engine which is linked to an electric motor and an 18kWh battery. In total, you\u2019re getting 209bhp and a respectable 7.2-second 0-60mph time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Helpfully, that sizeable battery means that you can get up to 56 miles of electric-only run time from the Atto 2 DM-i, so you can do quite a lot of journey time without needing the petrol engine whatsoever.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In contrast, the regular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukcarline.co.uk\/car-leasing\/byd\/atto-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BYD Atto 2<\/a> that you\u2019ll already find available here at UK Carline, brings an electric-only setup. It\u2019ll come as no surprise that it\u2019s very similar to the cabin of the regular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukcarline.co.uk\/news\/review-byd-atto-2-dm-i\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Atto 2<\/a>, with a huge central display running BYD\u2019s latest software alongside Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone systems.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a couple of differences between the DM-i and the regular electric Atto 2. For one, you\u2019ve got a steering wheel-mounted gear selector and a handy sunglasses holder, as well as redesigned front seats. The entry-level Active model gets features such as metallic paint, 16-inch alloy wheels and LED headlights, as well as cruise control and a 12.8-inch infotainment system with all key features included.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then there\u2019s the flagship Boost, which adds 17-inch alloys, a 360-degree camera and electrically adjustable and heated front seats. You also get a panoramic sunroof, which we think will help to make the interior of the Atto 2 feel even more spacious. Rear privacy glass gives the DM-i an even more upmarket appearance, too.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Atto 2 DM-i is also the first BYD plug-in hybrid model to get handy vehicle-to-load &#8211; or V2L &#8211; technology. Essentially, this feature allows you to plug in domestic items into the car and power them via the vehicle\u2019s electricity supply. Need to inflate an airbed with a pump or boil a kettle on a camping trip?
