Car leasing<\/a>\u00a0customers and other motorists in the UK are happier to get behind the wheel of an electric vehicle (EV) than those in mainland Europe, it has been revealed.<\/p>\n

Research carried out by Deloitte found that just 16 per cent of drivers in Europe are keen to be among the first to drive an EV.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a further 53 per cent said they may consider buying or leasing such an environmentally-friendly model.<\/p>\n

The survey showed that the primary worries affecting motorists’ decisions are convenience and cost to charge, as well as the range of the vehicles.<\/p>\n

David Raistrick, automotive partner and head of manufacturing at Deloitte UK, stated that these issues “need to be addressed”.<\/p>\n

“Three-quarters (74 per cent) of European consumers surveyed said that before they would consider purchasing an EV, they would expect it to be able to travel 300 miles between charges,” he added.<\/p>\n

However, in the UK this fell to a range of 200 miles, Mr Raistrick noted.<\/p>\n

In a recent article for the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Stan Hammel stated that leasing an electric car is preferable to buying one outright as it offers more scope to upgrade as the technology improves.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
