Car leasing<\/a> customers will find it much easier to switch their vehicle than regular motorists and could have their latest choice influenced by the magazine’s recommendations.<\/p>\nThe announcement is the first time in the renowned Car of the Year Awards’ history that the judges have revealed their shortlists to consumers and the information could prove to be a valuable resource for drivers in the UK.<\/p>\n
What Car? editor-in-chief Chas Hallett said: “The decision-making process this year is going to be harder than ever, because the automotive industry keeps building better, more economical and more desirable cars that offer consumers great value for money. The objective of the annual What Car? Awards is to let our readers know the best car in every class.”<\/p>\n
The awards span the entire car industry and the magazine will hand out 13 individual category winner titles as well as the coveted overall award.<\/p>\n
Categories include the Best Family Car where last year’s winner the Volkswagen Golf is joined by the Ford Focus, Vauxhall’s Ampera and Astra GTC and the Nissan Leaf.<\/p>\n
The all-electric Leaf has already been integral to the Japanese manufacturer taking a host of sustainability honours this year, including the Low Carbon Car\/Van Manufacturer of the Year at the LowCVP Low Carbon Champions Awards.<\/p>\n
Car leasing customers looking for a green option may want to take particular notice of the low-carbon award, where the Leaf is nominated alongside BMW for its 3 Series’ improvements in efficiency and Alfa Romeo for its advancements in reducing carbon dioxide emissions.<\/p>\n
The prizes will be handed out in a ceremony in Grosvenor House in London on January 11th 2012, but Mr Hallett stated that much discussion would need to take place before the definite verdicts could be given.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
