3 Peaks Challenge

UK Carline8th July 2021

We are very proud to be supporting 2 of our UK Carline team members Warren and Graham and a former UK Carline colleague Euan in their amazing attempt to take part in climbing the 3 Peaks Challenge.

What is the National 3 Peaks Challenge I hear you say? It’s only climbing the 3 tallest peaks of  Scotland, England and Wales. The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is just over 10,000 feet. The driving distance alone from mountain to the mountain is 462 miles and they’ll inevitably have to climb one in the dark so if they don’t all make it back unharmed at least they’ll have raised a bit of money for a worthy cause!

The lads will start by driving the 5-6 hours up to Scotland on the 22nd of July. They will then rest up before they start their mammoth 24hour walking challenge. Will they make it? We hope so.

But why do you ask? Surely it would be easier to do one Peak then nip to the pub for a pint. MIND – the mental health charity. These last 18 months have had an incredible effect on people’s mental health and sadly many people have lost their battle with this illness. At UK Carline we have seen with our own eyes how mental health can affect a person. 3 years ago, we lost our most loved colleague John Culshaw, he was fondly seen as our work Dad. He loved to walk the peaks and used to take some of the team with him on his adventures to show how beautiful and wonderful climbing could be for the soul…..and nipping to the pub afterwards for a pint was always a lovely well-earned reward.

And before the pandemic hit, we saw an increase in needing to help support members of our team with their mental health struggles. And like so many other people around the world we know our mental health is more important than ever to take care of.

Hopefully whatever money they raise will help the charity MIND with their amazing work and give a little bit back for all they have done for us.

The boy’s target is £2500, which is less than a 9 month initial rental on a SEAT Leon for 5000 miles a year.

Money is tight for everyone, but if you could spare £1 it will go a long way towards their £2500. To donate to Warrens just give page click here.

In loving memory of John Culshaw
