Greater Manchester can now breathe a breath of fresh air…
It’s not a secret that cities and towns across the country are acting faster than ever to make the air we breathe less exhaust fume-filled and more Oxygen based.
And the residents of Greater Manchester can look forward to their streets being more breathable. Ready to launch in May 2022 the Greater Manchester council have started to install the cameras and signage to help drivers be aware of the Clean Air Zones (CAZ)
With £120million of Government funding, it is hoped to help local businesses, organisations and people to change to cleaner vehicles so that they can travel within the CAZ without being slammed with heavy daily charges. Motorbikes and Private Cars will not be affected, but some types of the most polluting commercial and passenger vehicles will have to pay to travel in the zone ie: LGV, HGV buses, coaches, hackney cabs, private hire vehicles and minibuses.
There will be no part of Greater Manchester not taking part in the CAZ as all TEN local authorities have agreed to the Clean Air Plan. To find out more information about the clean air plan click here.
