Here’s everything that the Cupra Born has to offer

Jack Evans28th November 2025

The electric hatchback segment is becoming a hotly contested area of the market.

Cupra was once the sporty sub-brand of the Spanish car manufacturer, Seat, but has been a standalone company since 2018.

The Born is the firm’s five-door electric family hatch and shares its underpinnings with the Volkswagen ID.3, though it comes in a much more attractive package.

If you’re in the market for one of these stylish Spanish alternatives, what does the Cupra Born have to offer?

There is an impressive level of standard equipment

When it comes to choosing which Born is right for you, there are plenty of models that come with an impressive level of standard kit.

The entry-level V1 features everything you could ever need, such as 19-inch alloy wheels, a heated steering wheel, a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, a reversing camera and sport suspension.

The V2 follows on from the V1 and boasts heated front seats, a head-up display and tinted rear windows. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line V3 comes with 20-inch alloy wheels, interior ambient lighting and 12-way electrically adjustable massaging front seats.

It features lots of sustainable materials

Cupra has risen to become a popular brand in the UK

To help reduce CO2 emissions from the manufacturing process, Cupra has integrated lots of sustainable materials into the Born’s interior.

Inside, the seat upholstery is wrapped in Seaqual Yarn; a material made from recycled marine plastics, while the floor mats are made from something Cupra calls ‘Econyl’, also known as ‘regenerative nylon’. This is a sustainable material made from unwanted waste like fish nets and industrial plastics.

It’s perfect for a small family

As a five-door hatchback, the Born offers a good level of practicality

If you want a practical small family hatchback, but need to go electric, then the Born could be the ideal counterpart.

Going on a long journey is no problem with the Born as the cabin is well-insulated from road and wind noise, and the driving experience is refined, composed and relaxing.

It comes with lots of interior space too, with deep door bins, a massive sliding cut-out tray in the centre console, cup holders and an impressive amount of rear-seat space for occupants.

In the back, the boot capacity stands at 385 litres and 1,267 litres with the rear bench folded down, which puts it on par with its identical sibling, the Volkswagen ID.3.

It comes with a choice of battery packs

The Cupra Born range is available with a choice of different battery packs to suit different lifestyles and budgets.

The first is a 58kWh battery with an electric motor that’s available on V1 and V2 trim levels, which produces a total of 227bhp and 310Nm of torque. Cupra claims the Born with this setup can travel up to 262 miles on a charge and that 120kW DC rapid-charging is compatible, taking 35 minutes to go from five to 80 per cent.

The Born V3 comes as standard with a larger 77kWh unit with an electric motor, which develops the same power and torque as the 58kWh models, although has a claimed electric range of up to 342 miles, making it even more capable on longer journeys.

Plus, the 77kWh model can be topped up at 175kW DC rapid-charging speeds, allowing for a 10 to 80 per cent top-up to take 27 minutes.

There is a hot ‘VZ’ model available

Fancy an electric hot hatch? Well, Cupra has you covered with the Born VZ, which packs a 79kWh battery pack with an electric motor to develop 321bhp and 545Nm of torque. That takes the car from 0-60mph in 5.4 seconds and the top speed is 124mph.

The VZ’s claimed electric range is also impressive, with Cupra promising up to 366 miles on a single charge and 185kW DC rapid-charging speeds are compatible, allowing for a 10 to 80 per cent top-up to take 26 minutes.

The Born VZ also features larger alloy wheels, sports dampers and it uses Cupra’s ‘Dynamic Chassis Control’ (DCC), which electronically alters the shock absorbers and steering depending on what driving mode is selected.

Prices for the Cupra Born VZ start from £44,820, while there are lots of optional extras available including a glass panoramic sunroof, metallic paint and an energy-saving heat pump.
