Here’s everything you need to know about Maxus and its future plans
Not another new Chinese car firm, you might ask yourself. Well, Maxus is a firm that has been around for a lot longer than people think.
It currently sells electrified passenger and commercial vehicles and has big plans in the future for the UK market.
So, what is Maxus? What vehicles does it currently offer, and what’s next for the brand?
We’ve covered everything you need to know about what’s coming for this rather niche Chinese car firm.
What is Maxus?

Maxus is a car firm that specialises in passenger and commercial vehicles and is owned by the Chinese giant SAIC Motor. SAIC is also the group behind brands like MG, too.
The firm first came over to the UK back in 2016 and started selling commercial vehicles to compete with vans such as the Ford Transit and Mercedes Sprinter.
The V80 van was the first offering and featured several body styles and came as standard with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that produced 135bhp and 300Nm of torque.
The van never sold in huge numbers and didn’t win British buyers around, despite its lower price tag and multiple body styles.
So, now with electrification under full swing, Maxus has started to expand its offerings of commercial vehicles, and has also taken a crack at passenger vehicles in the UK as well.
What models does it sell?
Maxus currently sells two passenger models which are the Mifa 9 and Mifa 7.
Mifa 9
The Mifa 9 is an electric seven-seat MPV to rival the likes of the Citroen e-Spacetourer and features electric sliding rear doors. Although a battery pack size has not been revealed by the firm, it’s estimated to be a 90kWh unit with an electric motor that gives a claimed range of up to 353 miles on a single charge.
Mifa 7
The Mifa 7 is another electric seven-seater MPV, but is a slightly cheaper alternative to the bigger Mifa 9. There are two battery pack options, including a 77kWh battery that can deliver up to 298 miles between trips to the plug and a larger 90kWh battery that can achieve a claimed 395 miles.
Moving onto the commercial vehicles it has to offer, Maxus offers a range of electric vans and internal-combustion pick-ups.
Deliver 7 and eDeliver 9

The most popular on Britain’s roads is the Deliver 7 and eDeliver 9. The former comes equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine and it rivals the likes of the Ford Transit and Volkswagen Crafter.
The eDeliver 9 is a larger variant of the 7 and is electric, which features a choice of three battery packs being a 51.5kWh with a claimed 112 miles of range, a 72kWh that can do a claimed 146 miles and a larger 88.5kWh that can travel up to 212 miles.
T60 Max
The T60 Max is a diesel-powered pick-up that rivals cars such as the Ford Ranger and comes equipped with a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged unit that delivers 212bhp and 500Nm of torque, and it can tow up to a maximum of 3,500kg.
Deliver 7
More confusingly, there is the option of another Deliver 7 van variant, but it has a completely different look. It’s powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine and is a direct rival to the Vauxhall Vivaro and Ford Transit Custom.
eDeliver 3
Other electric vans in the Maxus lineup include the eDeliver 3 and features either a 35kWh or 52kWh battery pack and has up to 151 miles of range, while rivalling the likes of the Peugeot e-Partner and Citroen e-Berlingo.
eDeliver 7

Next up, we have the eDeliver 7, which looks nothing like the diesel-powered Deliver 7. It features a 77kWh or larger 88kWh battery pack that can travel up to a claimed 340 miles between top ups. The eDeliver 7 rivals vans such as the Ford E-Transit Custom.
eDeliver 5
The eDeliver 5 is a quirky and futuristic-styled van that has compact dimensions. There is only one battery pack on offer, which is a 64kWh unit that produces a total of 161bhp and Maxus claims the van can travel up to 208 miles on a single charge.
eTerron 9
The eTerron 9 is the only electric pick-up that Maxus offers in the UK, and it rivals vehicles such as the upcoming Isuzu D-Max Electric and mild-hybrid Toyota Hilux. Under the bonnet, there is a 102kWh battery pack with dual electric motors to make four-wheel-drive and Maxus claims the pick-up has a claimed range of up to 267 miles.
What’s in store for the future?
With the recent launch of the firm’s Mifa 9 and Mifa 7 electric MPVs, the firm wants to continue expanding its range of electric vehicles.
Within just a couple of years, the firm has gone from offering an anonymous diesel-powered van to an eclectic mix of battery-powered and internal-combustion vehicles, and will continue to grow even further. At this stage, it’s unconfirmed what models are due to arrive next, but the firm is committed to offering more electrified commercial vehicles.
Also, the Maxus dealership network currently stands at over 60 sites in the UK, but the brand wants to expand even further to around 100 franchises very soon.
