Here’s why the Nissan Qashqai remains a key crossover option

Jack Evans3rd October 2025

Nissan’s Qashqai is often billed as the ‘original’ crossover, having kicked off the segment back in 2007. Today, the Qashqai’s rivals are numerous and accomplished but this clever family car still has all of the features that most drivers want.

You’ll find the Qashqai available here at UK CarLine, too, but if you’re on the fence about this practical Nissan, what do you need to know? Let’s find out.

Great levels of equipment

The interior is packed with equipment

The Qashqai has always offered an impressive level of equipment and that’s no different for the latest version. There’s a clear 12.3-inch infotainment system which is equipped with key smartphone mirroring apps such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the car’s native system is easy to navigate through thanks to clear icons.

All cars get reversing sensors, dual-zone climate control and and a rear-view parking camera, too.

Clever hybrid technology

Clever e-Power technology brings an experience more like the one in a full EV

At the very heart of the Qashqai experience is an efficient hybrid powertrain. There are two to choose from. The first is a mild-hybrid system which utilises a 1.5-litre petrol engine, enabling up to 44.8mpg. It’s a good option for drivers after a more ‘traditional’ driving experience.

Then there’s Nissan’s clever e-Power system. Again, this uses a 1.5-litre engine, but instead of driving the wheels, the petrol motor acts more as a generator, with electric motors being used to primarily drive the car. As a result, it feels a little like an electric vehicle to drive, and you should get over 60mpg, too.

Spacious interior

The Qashqai remains one of Nissan’s core models

A crossover aimed towards families needs to offer space and that’s just what you’ll find in the Qashqai. Handily, the Qashqai’s rear door open to 90 degrees, so it’s a breeze to get in and out, or to load a child seat. Once inside, you’ll find a decent level of headroom and a good amount of legroom for those sitting in the back of the car.

At 504 litres, the boot space in the Qashqai is impressive and you can fold down the rear seats in order to expand this to 1,504 litres.

Stylish design

The Qashqai has been a family favourite for years

One thing that the Qashqai has always had on its side is design and the latest version brings a futuristic take on things. You’ve got slim-profile LED headlights and daytime running lights, while a great range of colours means you can make it look just as you’d like – we’re big fans of the striking ‘Ocean Deep’ shade.

Inside, you’ve got a range of soft-touch materials, with diamond-pattern stitching available on certain models. Looking for a particular specification? Let the team at UK CarLine know and they’ll be happy to help.
