The Jaecoo 7 is March’s best-selling vehicle – why is it so popular?

7th April 2026

The Jaecoo 7 was March’s best-selling new car, according to registration figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

In fact, just over 10,000 7s were registered during the month, outpacing familiar favourites such as the Ford Puma and Nissan Qashqai. But why is the Jaecoo 7 proving such a hit with buyers? Let’s take a look.

The 7 aims to bring lots of technology and features for the money

Price and value are at the very heart of the Jaecoo 7’s appeal. Here at UK Carline, we’ve got the best deals available on the 7, meaning you can get behind the wheel of this SUV for as little as £205.79 plus VAT with £2,469.48 + VAT initial rental.

We’re always able to find the right deal for you, though, so get in touch today to find a leasing or finance plan which will fit you best.

Equipment levels

The J7’s interior is dominated by the large central screen

There’s loads of equipment on board the Jaecoo 7, which makes those prices even more tempting. As standard, all cars get a 13.2-inch portrait infotainment screen, which runs all of your must-have apps such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It’s here that you’ll control the car’s heating and ventilation.

Luxury-grade models gain a larger 14.8-inch infotainment system, alongside a Sony eight-speaker sound system. However, with such good levels of equipment, there’s little need to go beyond the base version.

Efficiency

The plug-in hybrid Jaecoo 7 brings a decent electric-only range

While the standard petrol version of the Jaecoo 7 might not have the best efficiency, most people will be opting for the hybrid or plug-in hybrid versions instead. The plug-in hybrid is particularly good on fuel, since it can manage over 56 miles of electric-only range will a full battery.

Emissions of just 23g/km CO2 mean that the plug-in hybrid Jaecoo 7 is a particularly attractive option to business customers, too.

Design

The J7 is available with two powertrain options

Obviously, design is one of the key elements that has made the Jaecoo 7 so appealing. From its faux Range Rover-esque front-end design to its upright, boxy stance on the road, it’s often the look of the Jaecoo 7 that people talk about first and foremost.

There’s also a decent range of exterior colours available for the Jaecoo 7, while a new Black Luxury model has introduced a suite of gloss black-coloured elements to help give this car a stealthier look.
