The Volkswagen ID.3 Pro S Match is well worth checking out today

Jack Evans28th August 2025

The electric family hatchback class has grown in recent years and one of the most popular is Volkswagen’s ID.3.

The ID.3 shares the same MEB platform as many other electric vehicles in the Volkswagen Group and features lots of standard equipment, a decent amount of interior space and several trim levels.

The sweet spot in the range would be the Pro S Match trim level, which we will discuss in due course.

So, if you’re thinking about buying one of these German electric hatchbacks, what are the main reasons?

We’ve compiled a list of the top features that make the Volkswagen ID.3 a worthy contender for your next car.

There is a range of battery options

The ID.3 is available with a variety of motor and battery options

Depending on which variant of ID.3 you choose, there are three different battery sizes available.

The smaller 52kWh unit is available on the cheaper models, which provides a claimed range of 241 miles.

Then, there is a larger 59kWh battery, which is available on mid-specification cars and provides a claimed range of up to 269 miles.

Finally, there is the 79kWh unit, which is standard on the flagship Pro S Match model, and provides a claimed 352 miles of range, or there is a punchier electric motor found in the hot GTX Performance model, which increases the claimed range to 371 miles and improves the acceleration too.

It’s very well-equipped

The interior of the ID.3 feels high-tech throughout

Volkswagen offers the ID.3 with several different trim levels, and all of them come with a decent amount of standard equipment.

The entry-level Pure Essential features LED headlights, ambient lighting, a 12.9-inch infotainment screen and LED taillights.

The rest of the range consists of Pure Match, Pro Essential, Pro Match, Pro S Match, GTX Performance and GTX Fire & Ice limited edition.

The Pro S Match model is the pick of the bunch

Quirky pedals show a bit of character

If we had to choose one trim level, then the pick of the bunch would be the Pro S Match, which starts at £39,940 or from a monthly rental of £182.78 + VAT here at UK CarLine.

The reason is that it’s the perfect blend of standard equipment and electric range. It features 20-inch alloy wheels, matrix LED headlights, a rear view camera, keyless entry and go and satellite navigation. Also, it comes equipped with the larger 79kWh battery and electric motor to give a claimed electric range of up to 352 miles on a single charge.

Also, with it costing below the £40,000 threshold, it doesn’t fall into the luxury car tax scheme, which should make it cheaper to run over the next five years.

It provides a decent amount of practicality

There’s a good level of space for relatively compact car

Whichever version of ID.3 you go for, all models provide a decent amount of practicality.

Inside, rear-seat occupants will have no trouble at all getting comfortable, with sufficient head and legroom, and the completely flat floor makes it easier for everyone to put their feet somewhere.

Up front, there are deep front door bins, large cup holders, a glovebox and a cut-out located in the centre console, to make the interior feel a lot more commodious for everyone’s bits and pieces.

In terms of boot space, the ID.3 provides 385 litres of room, which is more than the equivalent Golf. The room itself is deep, wide and very usable and if you fold down the rear bench, that space increases to 1,267 litres, which is still 30 litres more than its combustion-powered sibling.

There is a limited GTX Fire & Ice model

The Fire and Ice is a limited-edition version of the ID.3

For a limited time only, Volkswagen is offering the ID.3 in a special ‘Fire & Ice’ limited edition.

It was built in collaboration with Volkswagen and the German skiwear brand, Bogner, and pays tribute to the MK2 Golf Fire & Ice edition from the 1990s.

This model will be limited to just 1,990 examples worldwide with prices starting at £48,360. It comes equipped with the larger 79kWh battery, which provides a claimed electric range of up to 365 miles and includes lots of bespoke exterior and interior upgrades.

These include the car being finished in Ultra-Violet Purple paint, 20-inch alloy wheels and red roof strips.

Meanwhile, the interior has a Fire & Ice theme, with a Flame Red driver’s seat top outlay and a Floxal Blue passenger seat top outlay.
