If you have to drive every day, especially if this is part of your regular commute, it’s easy to see how being on the road can become boring.
It appears that many motorists feel this way as new research from the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) reveals that a third of drivers have fallen out of love with driving.
The road safety charity revealed that the main reason so many drivers found being on the road a bore was the rising cost of petrol. More than half (51 per cent) of those who don’t enjoy driving admitted it is because it is just too expensive. However, this isn’t the only reason British drivers are finding their cars tiresome.
Some 41 per cent of motorists don’t enjoy driving because the congestion on roads is too much for them, while more than a quarter (28 per cent) are simply no longer excited by the activity.
However, it appears many Brits just don’t have the time needed to spend driving for pleasure as 25.9 per cent admitted to not having enough spare time to enjoy driving.
It appears as though some drivers still get pleasure from being behind the wheel as 39 per cent consider driving a hobby, and a third still regularly go out for a spin in their car.
For many motorists, it seems driving is a way of escaping, as 78 per cent would go out in their car with their partner to get away from the daily routine, while half don’t feel relaxed when driving with their other half.
Other road users could be deterring some motorists from getting behind the wheel, as 60 per cent of respondents said the behaviour of other drivers on the road makes them nervous. However, Brits aren’t worried about their own skills, as 53 per cent said they are ‘good’ drivers, while 45 per cent think they are ‘very good’.
Bad weather conditions and driving near to lorries are two other factors that make motorists nervous when going out for a spin.
If you have lost your love for driving, car leasing could bring back the excitement. UK Carline can find you the perfect deal that allows you to get behind the wheel of a beautiful car that will be a pleasure to drive.
