Check out Denza’s debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed

A trio of models have been included in Denza’s debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, showcasing what we could expect from the new premium arm of BYD

But what are these new models, what kind of features do they have and what else do you need to know? We’ve been on the ground at the Festival to find out.

Z9 GT

Denza Z9 GT
The Z9 GT gets a range of clever features

The Z9 GT is one of the most striking cars to feature at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed and it showcases a rather different take on the typical electric vehicle. Using a shooting brake-style design, the Z9 GT will rival cars like the Porsche Taycan and Kia EV6.

It’ll be available as either an electric or hybrid, with the latter utilising Denza’s ‘Super DM’ plug-in hybrid setup. Not only that, but clever motors mean that the D9 GT can perform ‘Compass U-Turns’ and spin on the spot, adding another string to its bow.

It’ll all be underpinned by Denza’s new e3 platform, which has been created specifically for the brand. It helps the Z9 GT to incorporate features such as improved battery-to-body integration, as well as better vehicle control overall.

B5

Denza B5
The B5 comes equipped with off-road-ready features

The B5 is another car turning heads at this year’s Festival of Speed. It’s a large, practical SUV that will rival cars like the Land Rover Defender when it goes on sale. Like the Z9 GT, it’ll be available as a plug-in hybrid to help bring a good compromise between efficiency and performance.

There’s a 1.5-litre petrol engine at its heart, but linked to that is two electric motors to provide four-wheel-drive and an impressive 477bhp. However, Denza has also stated that the B5 will be able to provide a large electric range to help reduce running costs when compared with a traditional SUV.

Inside, there’s a large main screen as has become key for modern SUVs, while the exterior is defined by its chunky proportions and off-road focused features, like its plastic wheelarches and handy roof rails.

D9

Denza D9
The D9 is a practical MPV designed for families

Finally, we have the D9, which arrives as a premium MPV which aims to bring family-friendly practicality with lots of upmarket features. It’s electric, too, and Denza claims that you could get up to 373 miles from a single charge. Plus, rapid charging capability means that you could add over 90 miles of range in 10 minutes.

Inside, the D9 aims to bring a first-class experience with seats that can both recline and massage, so passengers should be able to get as comfortable as can be.

As with other Denza models, the D9 will come with a variety of high-tech features, such as integrated pockets which can instantly provide wireless charging for smartphones.

Denza is set to become one of the most exciting car brands to hit the UK but, if you can’t wait for it to arrive, then check out some of the cars from its sister brand BYD that we’re able to offer today at UK CarLine.
