Anyone looking for a consistent vehicle for car leasing purposes could be interested to hear that a Peugeot model has been named the most reliable.
A study of European vehicles carried out by Warranty Direct has named the 207 as being the most trustworthy car.
Looking into the repairs that have been claimed on more than 20,000 live policies on motors between three and seven years old, the company found the Peugeot model has “exemplary dependability”.
It found that the car experienced just a six per cent repair rate in an average year, ahead of the second-placed Fiat Panda, with a rate of 14 per cent.
The vehicle was joined by two other Peugeot cars in the top ten.
Warranty Direct managing director Duncan McClure Fisher said: “Three cars in the top ten is an impressive showing for Peugeot and we’d like to think that other manufacturers will be moved to improve their own reliability record.”
The 207 is noted for offering a choice of engines, including the HDi 90 FAP, which has CO2 emissions of just 99g/km.
