Car leasing customers could soon have a new option available to them.

Ford has announced that the new Focus Zetec S has been added to its current range of vehicles.

The car has been designed specifically with the British motorist in mind and takes the existing successful Zetec model and makes a host of additions to produce an improved performance.

Exterior changes include the striking sports body kit, which features custom-designed front and rear spoilers, as well as lower sill extensions. The wheels have also been given an extra boost and the Zetec S comes with 17-inch alloy rims as standard.

Other modifications include improved suspension, sports pedals and the Ford Power starter button.

Anthony Ireson, the company’s marketing director, said: “Zetec S models have always been popular with UK customers and so we are delighted to welcome our new Focus Zetec S to the range. With sporty exterior body styling and impressive performance and economy, this latest addition is set to be another showroom hit.”

Under the bonnet the Zetec S can be fitted with a 1.6-litre 180PS EcoBoost petrol engine, which is capable of accelerating the car from zero to 62mph in 7.9 seconds and gives it a top speed of 138mph.

Car leasing customers concerned about their fuel efficiency could be pleased to hear that all these additions do not hinder the car’s environmentally-friendly credentials.

The 1.6-litre 108PS engine emits only 139g/km carbon dioxides, but drivers could choose the 1.6-litre 115PS option and may see their fuel-efficiency figures increase thanks to the added auto start-stop, ECO mode and smart regenerative charging features.

An estate version of the Ford Focus Zetec S will follow in February 2012.

Ford recently announced that the new Focus was the first car ever to win four European New Car Assessment Programme advanced safety awards.
