Carmaker Seat is celebrating after its Alhambra model was chosen as Best People Carrier at a recent award show.
The prize was handed to the automotive firm during the 2012 Fleet News Awards in London.
It was selected by a judging panel appointed by the publication for the title because of its “practicality, versatility and affordable costs”, according to the company.
In their comments, the judges praised the size of the Alhambra and the spaciousness of its boot, making it ideal for car leasing deals where capacity is important.
The largest Seat available is also versatile, with seats that fall flat and provides competitive costs and low carbon emissions relative to its size.
Peter Wyhinny, managing director of Seat UK, said: “We know the Alhambra is a very impressive MPV and the near-constant stream of important awards such as this reinforces that belief.”
Vehicles mentioned in the same category at the event were the Peugeot 5008, which was highly commended, the Ford S-Max, Ford Galaxy, Volkswagen Sharan and Volkswagen Touran.
Other winners at the 2012 Fleet News Awards that may be considered for car leasing contracts included the Ford Fiesta as Best Small Car and the firm’s Focus as Best Medium Car, alongside the Volkswagen Passat as Best Upper Medium Car and Skoda’s Superb Estate as Best Estate Car.
Almost 1,400 representatives of the fleet industry were in attendance at the Grosvenor House Hotel on March 21st for the ceremony, at which the Volkswagen Passat took the top prize as Best New Company Car of 2011 and BMW was named Fleet Manufacturer of the Year in a vote by readers of the publication.
Criteria used to judge vehicles nominated for the awards range from operating costs, to the level of support provided by manufacturers and sales teams.
