Three ways to make the most of your car this summer

JonathanJune 13, 2014

When you have just embarked on a car-leasing contract and finally got your hands on that brand-spanking new model you've been dreaming of, it can be difficult thinking of excuses to get behind the wheel once again.

For many people, getting the keys to a new car can bring back their love of driving that their old banger slowly seeped out of them over the years. This means that no trip to the shop or commute to work is long enough to really satisfy your new-found need to drive just about everywhere possible.

However, we've come up with the three best things to do with your new car once you have got the keys.

Roadtrip
They say the old ones are the best, and although that doesn't apply to cars, it definitely applies to roadtrips. When you get behind the wheel of a new model, there is nothing better than packing a few items, picking up a map and hitting the open road. You can either take a sat-nav and think of your route ahead, noting some points of interest on the way, or do it the old-fashioned way and just play it by ear.

Picnic
If you have a young family there are really few things better than cutting some sandwiches into triangles, filling a flask with squash or coffee and heading to your favourite picnic spot. However, this is made ever the more enjoyable by having a brand new car to debut on the route. This means that even if nice areas aren't right on your doorstep, you don't mind going those few extra miles to grab some precious family time; oh, and test the car out of course.

With the weather finally getting warmer, it is the perfect way to spend a day during the summer holidays or weekend.

See your favourite sport
With the first goals in the World Cup 2014 having officially been scored, the season of sport has arrived. Even if football isn't your thing, Wimbledon is just around the corner, the F1 season is in full swing and the Commonwealth Games are just weeks away. Although Brazil may just be a little out of reach, and out of budget, Glasgow is definitely do-able.

If your heart is set on football, why not do some research and find the perfect place to watch your next England match with fellow fans. With a reliable and brand-spanking new car by your side (well, under you) the world is your oyster.

Whatever you decide to do with your brand new car this summer, don't leave it standing on the drive. It can be too easy to lose our love of driving, especially if we've been stuck with the same old banger for too long or the boring daily commute is a common occurrence. However, this summer could be the perfect time for you to reclaim the road and revitalise your love of being behind the wheel.
