Top five driving tunes

JonathanApril 10, 2014

On a nice sunny day, or at least a dry one in the UK, there is nothing better than getting behind the wheel of a car that is a pleasure to drive, rolling down the windows and playing your favourite songs.

With the bank holiday just around the corner, many of us will be taking advantage of the extra couple of days away from the office by going on a drive. Whether your trip is to visit family members or friends over the Easter break, or you are making use of the time off to enjoy a long weekend away with your loved ones, you will need the right music to set the tone for your journey.

However, when you are stuck in the rat race, or barely have time to remember who you are supposed to be picking up from where, it can be hard to sit down and have the time to think about what music you need for your upcoming trip. Don't worry – we've got it sorted. Below you'll find some of the best driving tunes that are sure to make you forget the office blues and enjoy your well-deserved long weekend.

Billy Idol – Rebel Yell
What better way to free yourself from the daily grind than with this 80's classic from Billy Idol? This song is one of those that you can't stop yourself from singing to, no matter who's around – making it the perfect start to your journey's playlist. The sentiment of the tune will also be appreciated as you make your way further and further away from the office and enjoy your extra few days off doing exactly what you want.

Whitesnake – Here I Go Again
Another 80's favourite, Whitesnake's iconic track is on many driving playlists as there is nothing more freeing that the guitar laid down in this song. From the soft feel of the opening bars to the triumphant climax as David Coverdale gets closer to the well-known chorus, this song is the perfect choice to get you in the mindset for the open road.

Guns 'N' Roses – Sweet Child O' Mine
This track needs little introduction as from the first utterings of the, now infamous, guitar intro, you will be channelling your inner Slash or Axl Rose from the comfort of your driver's seat. The combination of expert, clean guitar playing and perfectly rough vocals has made this song iconic and is a well-deserved fixture on any driving playlist.

Bon Jovi – It's My Life
The lyrics, the sentiment and, of course, Jon Bon Jovi's emotion – everything about this song makes it perfect for the open road. Although this song is more than a decade old, it still sounds as fresh now as when it was released back in 2000.

T. Rex – Children Of The Revolution
This song by T. Rex is perfect for setting the tone for your journey and setting yourself free from your desk. Whether you are travelling solo, or now have kids of your own, putting this track on will effortlessly take you back to your rebel days and make your journey far more enjoyable.

Of course, getting behind the wheel of your old banger may not be appealing with any soundtrack, but car leasing can offer you the chance to enjoy driving once again.
