It’s got loads of range
There’s no need to worry about range with the Volkswagen ID.7. It comes equipped with a large 87kWh battery and that unlocks a range of up to 433 miles in Pro S Match Plus cars, which you’ll find available here at UK Carline. For context, that means you could go from Manchester to Birmingham and back again without having to visit a charger.
But, if you do need to charge up, then the ID.7’s charge speed of up to 200kW means that you won’t have to wait around for long. You should be able to manage a 10 to 80 per cent charge in under 30 minutes, in fact. For a standard 7kW home charger, you’re looking at a complete charge in around 11 hours, so quick enough for an overnight stop.
Fastback and Tourer models bring a lot of space
While the standard ID,7 might look like a saloon, it is, in fact, a Fastback. It means that you get all the plus-points of a saloon car with its sleek profile, but the added practicality of a hatchback-like boot area. Open it up, and the ID.7 Fastback offers up to 532 litres of boot space, or 1,586 litres with the rear seats folded down.
Then, there’s the Tourer. Built in the classic estate-car shape, the ID.7 Tourer offers even more boot space at 605 litres, making it a great option for drivers after the best-possible practicality from their cars.
There’s a high-performance GTX model available
You’ll probably know all about Volkswagen’s GTI models, but the German brand has also applied some of its performance know-how to its EVs in the form of the GTX. Available on the ID.7, these GTX models bring a heap more acceleration courtesy of punchier motors and Volkswagen’s famous 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.
In fact, the ID.7 GTX will manage 0-60mph in just 5.1 seconds, making it quicker than many hot hatches. You also get a sportier exterior design through redesigned spoilers and dedicated GTX badging, while these cars also benefit from Dynamic Chassis Control – or DCC – which allows you to firm up or soften off the ride via the car’s infotainment system. It’s a great way to make this car even more comfortable, particularly if you’re driving on a patch of road which features a lot of potholes.
All versions get lots of equipment
You’ll have plenty of toys to play with in the ID.7. Take the Pro Match Plus specification. With this, you get 19-inch diamond-turned alloy wheels and a range of metallic paint finishes to choose from, while inside there’s a 15-inch infotainment system which has all of your key media and navigation functions alongside both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s even a futuristic augmented reality head-up display to show key driver information directly ahead of you when you’re behind the wheel.
Three-zone climate control helps to keep things comfortable inside and, via Volkswagen’s dedicated app, you can remotely control the temperature while monitoring the car’s charging progress. You can even lock and unlock the doors via your smartphone – handy if you’ve forgotten whether or not you’ve secured the car after parking it.
