Lepas 8 is on the way to tackle the mainstream – here’s what you need to know
Lepas falls under the wider Chery brand, but what is this latest brand set to offer and why could it challenge more established rivals?

It’s hard to ignore how popular Chery’s cars have been. From the original ground-breaking Jaecoo, to later Omoda and now fully-fledged Chery cars, this Chinese brand has been going from strength to strength. Here at UK Carline, we’ve got many of the very latest cars from this brand, so check out what’s on offer today.
Chery isn’t stopping there, though, and will shortly introduce another new brand – Lepas. But what is it, what will it do differently and what kind of cars can you expect it to produce? Let’s take a look.
What is Lepas?
As mentioned, Lepas falls underneath the wider Chery brand, which means it gets to use all of that brand’s engines, technology and know-how. The name comes from a combination of ‘Leap’ ‘Leopard’ and ‘Passion’ and the whole brand is being launched as a ‘new energy’ provider, meaning it’ll focus on hybrids and electrification, as well as traditional combustion-engined options.
It’s the fourth brand to launch in Europe, sitting alongside Chery, Omoda and Jaecoo.
What cars will Lepas sell?
L8
Lepas has already confirmed two models that it’ll be selling in the UK. The first is the L8, which arrives as a five-seater SUV which is based on a similar platform to the Chery Tiggo 8. Though Lepas has yet to confirm details, we expect that it’ll use the Super Hybrid System found in other Chery products, which will bring a plug-in hybrid setup and a decent electric-only range.
From initial images, we can see that the L8 gets a large portrait-oriented screen and a large display behind the steering wheel for the driver. Expect plenty of safety assistance systems on the L8 as standard, too.

L6
After that comes the L6. This is a mid-size SUV which, again, will get Chery’s Super Hybrid System but will also be available as an electric vehicle with up to 270 miles of range from a single charge. Sitting within the popular C-segment, the L6 will rival the likes of the Nissan Qashqai and Hyundai Tucson.
“The Lepas L6 is as clever as your smartphone, with intelligent technology woven into every journey, and as sophisticated as your home, delivering comfort, safety, and connectivity at every turn. We’re thrilled to confirm it will arrive in the UK later this year following its launch in Milan – a place where design and innovation converge. “
When will Lepas be appearing in the UK?
Lepas isn’t wasting any time, and you should be able to get hold of the L8 during the third quarter of this year. We always have access to the very latest deals, so keep an eye out on the UK Carline website for more information or get in touch with a member of the team to find out more.
From there, the L6 will arrive shortly after with Lepas confirming a European launch in the final quarter of 2026.
