Mazda has shown car enthusiasts a number of concept cars, based on its motorsport ambitions, at the SEMA show in Las Vegas.
A total of four concept cars were showcased by the company, two based on the brand new Mazda 3, while the others were styled on the new Mazda 6 saloon. All of the vehicles have been styled to include a more aggressive design.
Two Club Sport concepts, one styling itself on the Mazda 3, while the other favoured the Mazda 6.
The Club Sport 6 concept brings a 2.2-litre SkyActiv diesel engine, with a power output of 173bhp and 310lb ft of torque. On the outside there is a custom-designed aerodynamic bodywork kit which features front, side and rear diffusers nestled next to a rear spoiler, while there is also bespoke tyres and 20-inch wheels.
Mazda’s Club Sport 3 Concept is a similar design with many of the same features as the 6 but has a more aggressive design. It also has special paintwork with its club sport graphics, as well as metallic exterior trim. It also showcases a new aerodynamic body kit, which will be seen in all new Mazda 3 models next year (2014).
As well as the two Club Sport concepts, Mazda also brought its Vector 3 concept car to the Las Vegas show. Based on the Mazda 3, the vehicle brings new paintwork as well as 19-inch wheels and improved suspension and braking systems.
The Ceramic 6 concept completes the four concept cars and is based on the Mazda 6. It looks similar to the Vector 3 concept in terms of shape and styling, but also brings specialist paintwork with silver vinyl accents. Inside, the model is adorned with leather, as well as bringing front seat inserts and various other upgrades.
