MG4 Premium Extended Range: An Electric Car Worth Choosing Today?
The MG4 is the car that put MG on the electric map. With its excellent range, sharp dynamics and futuristic looks, it was a model which showed that MG was serious about electric cars. It also took off in the popularity stakes and today, it’s an EV that you see plenty of out on the roads.
It’s been a popular option here at UK Carline, too. The MG4 was recently updated, with many key revisions being made to the Premium Extended Range car. Let’s take a look at what it’s got to offer.
Range
This is one of the big parts of an electric car and in the world of the MG4, it’s the Premium Extended Range model that you’ll want if you need to go further. As part of those recent changes, the MG4 Premium Extended Range has gained a 15-mile boost, bringing the total claimed range to an impressive 338 miles. It’s got a rear-wheel-drive setup, too, and MG says that the MG4 will go from 0–60mph in around six seconds, so it’s pretty nippy away from the mark.
When you do need to stop and charge, you won’t be hanging around for long. Because the MG4 can charge at speeds of up to 150kW, it can go from 10 to 80 per cent charge in around 25 minutes.
What about equipment?
MG has never shied away from loading its cars with equipment and that’s no different here. On the Premium Extended Range, you’ll find 18-inch alloy wheels with efficiency-boosting aero covers included as standard, alongside a sharp 12.8-inch infotainment system. As you might expect, you’ve got both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto there to use as well.
A feature that we find really handy here at UK Carline is a wireless mobile phone charger and, alongside that, you’ve got a clever 360-degree parking camera to make positioning the MG4 even easier.
Are there any other entertainment features?
There are. In fact, on the latest MG4 Premium Extended Range, you can even watch apps like YouTube and TikTok when you’re parked up. It means you’ve got the option to catch up on your favourite shows when you’re charging, viewing them via the super-sharp 12.8-inch display.
There’s also a connected MG app, where you can view key information about your car including charging status, whether or not the doors are unlocked, and even the car’s location on a map.
Is it still practical?
With its hatchback design, the MG4 Premium Extended Range offers lots of space. Up front, there’s a decent amount of room for driver and passenger, while those in the back can stretch out thanks to the car’s completely flat floor, which comes through the absence of a transmission tunnel. Inside, you’ll find plenty of handy storage points, with large door bins, a well-sized glove box and a ‘floating’ centre console with a shelf underneath.
The rear seats are a breeze to fold down, too.
