Peugeot’s electric vehicle (EV), the iOn, will be available under a four-year or 40,000 mile car leasing deal, it has been reported.
AM Online revealed that the environmentally friendly cars will primarily be targeted at the public sector, as well as transport and energy organisations.
Following the initial round of lease deals, Peugeot intends to take back the EVs and then re-lease them to a second user for a further four years at a reduced cost, the publication noted.
While private motorists may find it more difficult to get behind the wheel of a Peugeot iOn in the first round of leasing, this could be easier once they are made available on these secondary deals.
The news provider added that Peugeot expects production of the iOn to reach a total of 50,000 vehicles by 2015.
Earlier this week, Automotive News Europe pointed out that after the initial lease cost each month, drivers of this EV are expected to pay between €1.50 and €2 (£1.32 and £1.76) per 100 km.
