The Porsche Macan has been officially unveiled to the public at the LA Motor Show last week (November 21st).
Porsche’s brand new Macan brings an attractive silhouette with its steeply sloping rear window and slim tail lights and also features a new platform to give it a sportier edge.
All versions of the Porsche Macan come with PDK double-clutch transmission and four-wheel drive as standard. They will also all arrive with the off-road mode that can be activated by pressing a button at speeds up to 50 mph. This feature changes the gearshift, clutch, accelerator pedal response and torque split to make driving on slippery surfaces easier.
The entry-level Macan S arrives with a twin-turbo, 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that produces 335bhp and is capable of achieving 0-62 mph in just 5.4 seconds. Delivering on all levels, the model also provides users with an EU combined fuel consumption of 32.5mpg.
Porsche’s Macan Turbo is the more premium option, offering customers a top class petrol vehicle. It is a landmark model for the manufacturer as it is the first to sport a 3.6-litre, twin-turbo V6 petrol engine. Under the hood it has plenty of power and can achieve 394bhp, while it can do 0-62mph time in 4.8 seconds, which is shaven to 4.6 seconds when the optional Sport Chrono pack. The EU Combined fuel consumption is 31.7mpg.
For drivers looking for an all-diesel vehicle, the Macan S Diesel is the model designed for you. This Macan carries a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine that delivers an EU Combined fuel economy of 46.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 159g/km. However, it also hits the mark in the performance stakes as it can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 6.3 seconds and can reach speeds of 143 mph.
The standard model starts at £43,300, though it is thought that Porsche will slim-down its SUV to meet a more budget-conscious market in 2014. However, it will still set you back around £35,000, which means that it out of a lot of people’s price range.
