Renault is the greenest car brand in Europe

JonathanOctober 7, 2013

There are many factors which must be considered when selecting which models to offer on our car leasing contracts. However, with one of the top concerns, and restrictions, in the industry being how environmentally-friendly a model is, it has to be one of UK Carline’s major priorities too.

One of the brands which has consistently demonstrated that it can build and produce beautiful, smart and low-emission vehicles is Renault.

This is shown by the fact that the French manufacturer has been named as the greenest brand in Europe, thanks to its extensive range of low-emission models. The company has made giant leaps in the area as it has gradually climbed further up the efficiency ladder.

Currently, the majority of its newly-released models are under the important 100g/km threshold. This and the fact that Renault has demonstrated a 10g improvement on its average CO2 emission levels per kilometre, has earned the manufacturer its eco-friendly accolade this year.

The French-based company has an average of 115.9g/km of CO2 emissions per vehicle, which has helped the firm distinguish itself as a brand that has a comprehensive range of low-emission models, rather than just one or two token cars. Renault offers customers and private companies an array of universally efficient vehicles, which features a range of models from crossover SUVs to attractive, electric superminis.

Jean-Philippe Hermine, director, Renault Group, Environmental Plan, said: “This position of market leader is proof that the combination of our powertrain strategy – with our range of Energy engines – and our electric vehicle strategy is bearing fruit.”

The Renault Clio, Captur and Zoe are three of the French brands most recent releases. and all three are low-emission vehicles thanks to the new front-end design – which features a larger badge.

Renault’s Clio and Captur models have become flagships for the company’s new design language as they are prime examples of how effective the new design is. Both models demonstrate how Renault can combine low-emitting engines with attractive models as the Clio is fitted with a 1.5-litre diesel engine that emits just 83g/km.

A number of Renault models can now boast that they are efficient vehicles including; the Twingo, Clio, Captur, Megane and Sandero – a model that is a part of Renault’s sister brand, Dacia.

Renault is ensuring that it is the go-to brand for low emitting vehicles as it recently released its full-electric model, the Renault Zoe.
