Safari Park sinks teeth into Nissan LEAF

JonathanJuly 25, 2014

Knowsley Safari, one of the UK’s best loved safari parks, has recently introduced a zero emission electric Nissan LEAF to its pride of vehicles, bolstering their fleet, hitting sustainability objectives and minimising costs.

The Learning and Discovery Team at Knowsley are hopeful that the new 100% electric car will help to teach students in schools in the North West of England about important issues such as sustainability and conservation.

Knowsley Safari currently has 2 educators working full time who travel across the region delivering informative, fun and engaging talks to primary school students, using their vehicles to bring everything from spiders to snakes to schools!

The electric car, provided by Nissan Liverpool, will make use of energy from the parks solar panels and will cost nothing to run. It’s also set to be customised with a creative and fun design to match the park’s livery.

An elated Richard Smith, head of Visitor Services at Knowsley Safari, couldn’t be happier with their new Nissan LEAF.

“In many ways the LEAF is the perfect car for us. It’s fantastic. Because we’ve been able to couple our charger to our solar panels there are effectively no running costs and that’s a real advantage.

“But we also operate in accordance with a strict sustainability plan and in that regard the LEAF is a winner too. It fits very neatly with the overall message the Learning and Discovery Team are delivering at schools across the region,” explained Mr Smith.

At UK Carline we enjoy fruitful relationships with some of the biggest and best manufacturers in the automobile sector. We have many great Nissan cars available for leasing, including the ever popular LEAF hatchback.
