8 Weird and Wonderful Car Accessories You Won’t Believe Exist
UK Carline / Weird & wonderful motoring ideas
Eight of the maddest car accessories ever dreamt up.
From baguette holders to luxury fishing kits, these are the quirky extras that prove car makers never stop surprising us.
Car manufacturers love to push the boundaries, and sometimes that means dreaming up a feature nobody knew they needed. From clever storage solutions to the downright extravagant, a few of these creations made it into production while others remain concepts or one-off luxuries. Either way, they certainly got people talking.
01 / The most French accessory ever
Renault 5 baguette holder
The Renault 5 is unashamedly French, so perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised that one of its most distinctive accessories is designed for carrying a baguette. Yes, an actual baguette.
It’s a dedicated woven-wicker holder that sits neatly inside the electric hatchback, helping to keep your loaf upright and your interior a little less crumb-covered. The best bit? Unlike plenty of crazy concept-car ideas, this one made it into Renault’s genuine accessories range.
02 / A basket case, in the best way
Citroën 2CV concept basket
Unveiled at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, the new Citroën 2CV concept brings one of France’s most recognisable cars into the electric age. It’s playful, full of personality and packed with nods to the original.
One of our favourites is the removable basket in place of a traditional centre console. There’s also a pull-out front seat and a detachable ‘Radioën’ radio that can double as a portable speaker. It’s a car interior that seems just as ready for a day out as it is for the school run.
These are concept-car features for now, rather than accessories you can head out and order today, but we’d love to see some of that character make it into the production version.
03 / The surprisingly useful one
Škoda’s ‘Simply Clever’ features
Not every unusual car feature has to be ridiculous. Škoda has built a reputation for its ‘Simply Clever’ ideas, which take little everyday annoyances and give them brilliantly straightforward solutions.
Take the umbrella tucked neatly into the driver’s door, or the ice scraper with a tyre-tread gauge built in. On electric models including the Elroq and Enyaq, that scraper is stored inside the tailgate, ready for frosty mornings.
They’re not the sort of features that make headlines for being outrageous, but they’re exactly the kind of touches you end up showing everyone after buying the car.
04 / A supercar for your wrist
Bugatti W16 watch
Bugatti builds some of the most extravagant performance cars on the planet, so a perfectly ordinary wristwatch was never going to cut it. Enter the Jacob & Co. x Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon, launched in 2020.
Inspired by the Chiron’s famous W16 engine, the watch features an astonishing miniature mechanical recreation. Press a crown and you can watch 16 tiny pistons move, the crankshaft turn and two decorative turbochargers spin. It’s more like a mechanical sculpture than a watch.
Is it practical? Not especially. Is it incredibly impressive? Absolutely.
05 / From the racetrack to the fairway
McLaren Golf clubs
McLaren knows a thing or two about lightweight engineering and high-performance materials. In 2026, the brand decided to apply that knowledge somewhere unexpected: the golf course.
McLaren Golf’s Series 1 and Series 3 irons mix striking design with precision manufacturing techniques, including Metal Injection Moulding. You might expect supercar-level engineering to come with a supercar-style price tag, and you’d be right.
They probably won’t fix your slice on their own, but at least you’ll look pretty cool trying.
06 / Four-legged VIP transport
Škoda pet accessories
Škoda’s knack for practical accessories doesn’t stop with its human passengers. It also offers pet-friendly touches to make journeys with four-legged friends a little less chaotic.
There are suitable restraint accessories and clever hammock-style rear-seat covers, designed to protect the upholstery from muddy paws, loose fur and the occasional enthusiastic leap into the car. They’re particularly welcome after a long countryside walk.
If you’re thinking of fitting one, it’s worth checking the accessory and restraint compatibility with your specific Škoda model first.
07 / An extremely posh packed lunch
Rolls-Royce picnic hamper
A drive in a Rolls-Royce is a special occasion in itself. But what if you fancy stopping for lunch along the way? Naturally, the luxury manufacturer has thought of that, too.
Its beautifully crafted picnic hamper takes the humble basket and turns it into something spectacular, with crystal glasses, Wedgwood china and handmade stainless-steel cutlery. Even the case is a statement, combining oiled teak, saddle leather and polished aluminium.
It’s the kind of accessory that makes unpacking lunch feel like opening a treasure chest.
08 / Hook, line and luxury
Bentley Bentayga Mulliner fly-fishing kit
People take SUVs fishing all the time, but Bentley decided its Bentayga deserved something a little more refined than a muddy tackle box rattling around in the boot.
Created by the brand’s Mulliner customisation team, the dedicated fly-fishing setup brought together a tackle station, refreshment case and waterproof storage for waders, as well as beautifully organised equipment for rods, reels and flies.
Of course, the whole thing was finished with the leather, wood and attention to detail you’d expect from a Bentley. If you’re going to spend a day by the river, why not do it in style?
