The forthcoming Range Rover Evoque has scooped a top award before even being released for production.
Named Best Production Car in 2010 at the Car Design of the Year Awards, the model beat off competition from the likes of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and the Audi A7.
The award follows a number of accolades for the vehicle, including being named Most Exciting Car of 2011 in the annual What Car? Awards.
Accepting the title at Car Design Night, held on the opening evening of the Geneva Motor Show, Land Rover design director Gerry McGovern commented: “This is a particularly special accolade as it represents recognition from peers in the industry.”
Deliveries of the Evoque – Range Rover’s lightest model to date – are set to begin in summer this year and car leasing customers may find the fuel-efficient, spacious vehicle particularly attractive.
The automaker will be highlighting the personalisation options open to drivers at the Geneva Motor Show, with the company claiming motorists can tailor the vehicle to “suit their lifestyle”.
