Motorists driving lease cars in the area around the Silverstone race circuit today and into the weekend could face delays.
The Moto GP race meet is taking place there on June 10th, 11th and 12th, with 120,000 spectators expected each day.
While many are expected to camp at the circuit or a nearby site, others will be travelling to Silverstone along the region’s arterial routes.
As such, lease cars could encounter heightened levels of traffic on the M1 in the East Midlands and the M40 through Oxfordshire.
The Highways Agency advises allowing additional time for journeys in the area, to compensate for any congestion or traffic jams.
It also suggests following its East Midlands traffic Twitter profile in order to receive up-to-date information about any incidents or congestion in the region.
However, drivers are urged not to check the social media site from a mobile phone while at the wheel.
