Pickup trucks are more popular than they’ve ever been, and the likes of the Mitsubishi L200 (with a new model just being released now – for more info click here), the Toyota Hilux, and the colossal Volkswagen Amarok being huge hits in the commercial vehicle market. Already being Europes #1 LCV brand, Renault are coming for a major piece of the pie with their new Alaskan concept.
Renault have said that the Alaskan is the “best of three worlds:” business, leisure, and motorway driving. They claim the four-pot twin-turbo diesel engine is going to have best-in-class fuel economy and low CO2.
Looks wise, the Alaskan concept keeps the sleek bonnet ridges that have become Renault’s distinctive signature, and put them on the muscular front end of a Nissan Navara-esq frame. The 21″ alloys look like they’re straight out of an episode of Pimp My Ride.
Renault say a production version is set to be revealed early next year, and will be available in a range of body types and powertrains.
