It's no secret the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is one of the best all-rounders you can lease. It offers all the benefits of a family SUV, without being too big and lumbering around town. It's the most successful plug-in hybrid on British roads, dominating the segment in 2015 with over 60% of sales. Even the entry level models are luxurious and generous with equipment, while the higher spec models boast heated Nappa leather seats, with a toasty heated leather steering wheel to match, 360o camera, adaptive cruise control, and much more.
"Detail changes on the outside help make what was already a thoroughly modern-looking SUV appear sleeker still, but it's the interior that will have prospective owners jumping for joy" - Car Magazine

"The Outlander is now an entirely competent modern SUV, just one with the potential for a zero-emissions commute" - Top Gear
To understand just how good the Outlander PHEV is, first you should understand how it works. Unlike other hybrids, most of the time the electric motors are the primary source of motion. In EV mode, the PHEV has a range of 33 miles, uses no petrol, creates no emissions, and has no trade-off in power.
When power is low, the Series Hybrid mode kicks in - the internal combustion engine acts as a generator, supplying power to the battery powering the electric motors.
For longer periods of high-speed driving, Parallel Hybrid mode takes over, with the petrol engine providing most of the power.
You won't know when driving mode changes, and you won't have to make any decisions - if you want the PHEV can automatically select the optimum driving mode. Of course, the option is always there for you to take control at the flick of a switch.
"It's a question of whether the slipper fits. If you're commuting 20-odd miles a day, can charge a car on your driveway overnight and need something that'll get across a moist field at weekends, the newly domesticated Outlander PHEV might prove a neat-fitting eco-welly" - Top Gear
The simplest way is through the Home Charge Wallbox (more details below). A complete charge uses just 9.8KWh of electricity, and will give you a range of up to 33 miles. This means if your commute to work is only short, or you do a lot of city driving, you can run your Mistubishi Outlander PHEV lease for a fraction of the cost. For example, if your electricity is £0.10 per KWH - you can fully charge the battery for less than £1. That's less than £1 for 33 miles...
